Why is Moorfields Eye Charity running a weekly lottery?

The lottery is a fun and engaging way to both raise vital funds and give back to our supporters. All profits from the lottery come back to Moorfields Eye Charity.

What prizes can I win?

The prizes available are as follows:

  • 3 digit match = 5 free entries into the next draw
  • 4 digit match = £25
  • 5 digit match = £1,000
  • 6 digit match = £25,000

What are the odds of winning a prize?

Because the Moorfields Eye Charity lottery is a number match game, the odds are fixed. This means that every lottery number has an equal chance of winning a prize. Your chances of winning are:

  • 3 digit match = 1 in 69
  • 4 digit match = 1 in 823
  • 5 digit match = 1 in 18,518
  • 6 digit match = 1 in 1,000,000

How much does Moorfields Eye Charity make from each £1 played?

For every £1 played, we recieve a minimum of 50p (50%) to go towards our work. The remaining 18.4% is used to cover the prize fund, and 31.6% is spent on administration.

What is the Unity Lottery?

The Unity Lottery is a umbrella lottery platform which charities of all sizes can use to run their own fundraising lotteries. The Unity Lottery platform is administered by Sterling Management Centre Limited, a licensed External Lottery Manager (ELM) by the Gambling Commission.

How is Moorfields Eye Charity able to offer a £25,000 prize?

When players win a prize, this is covered by the Unity prize pot. This means all the charities using the Unity platform are contributing towards the prize fund rather than the cost being the sole responsibility of Moorfields Eye Charity.

Is the Moorfields Eye Charity lottery legal?

Yes. The Moorfields Eye Charity lottery is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission. Administration of the lottery is handled by Sterling Management Centre Limited, a certified External Lottery Manager (ELM) with the Gambling Commission.

Who can I speak to if I have a problem with my sight?

Whilst Moorfields Eye Charity helps support the hospital, we ourselves are not involved in any medical matters. You will need to speak to the hospital’s nurse-led helpline if you have a medical query – 0207 566 2345.
